Results of some of the space shuttle's experiments Some plants and a menagerie of small animals were on board, mostly for the student projects. They included carpenter bees, spiders, silkworms, Japanese killfish and harvester ants. Among the findings: moss, in zero-gravity, grew in spiral patterns, as it searched for north.
